The student fast tracked while in the CPP Phase. She is an outstanding student and role model for other student workers. She works diligently on her craft and is very professional. Due to her hard work while on Work Based Learning, she was recently hired at Bellingrath Junior High as the schools’ Guidance secretary. Montgomery Job Corps Center celebrates Groundhog Shadow Day
The staff and students of the Montgomery Job Corps Center celebrated their Grounghog Job Shadow Day Activities on January 28th, 2011. MJCC’s on site Job Shadow Day began on January 28th, 2011. This day provided an opportunity for our students to get an up-close look at how the skills they are learning daily are utilized within the workplace. This activity also gave our students an opportunity to see the technical aspect of our jobs. It also allowed our students to see and understand the more methodological and educational aspect of our jobs. Students were assigned to each employee to work in their position for the day. Each instructor forwarded their recommended Shadow for their class and assisted them with preparations. Each instructor stressed to the shadows the importance of preparing themselves for great careers.
Groundhog Job Shadow Day had a multitude of benefits for MJCCand its community. It demonstrated the connection between academics and careers. It also fostereds partnerships between MJCC and businesses that enhanced the educational experience of all students. Most importantly, Job Shadow Day introduced students to the requirements of professions to help them prepare to join the workforce, and encouraged an ongoing relationship between its young people and caring adults.

Montgomery Job Corps Commemorates September 11th
On Friday September 10th the staff and students of the Montgomery Job Corps Center held a ceremony in honor of the victims of 9/11. The ceremony was opened with a slide presentation that presented before and after pictures of Ground Zero and several other sites affected by this horrific terrorist attack. The slide presentation was folllowed by the reading of an original poem written by one of our very own students. After the heartfelt poem was read, ACT student Candance Caldwell sang a wonderful rendition of “America the Beautiful”. As the culmanating end to this ceremony the entire staff and students walked out to the The Flowering Cherry Tree where numerous red, white, and blue balloons were released in honor of this great place we call America and to pay tribute to the victims and their familys.
