The Montgomery Job Corps Center Participates in the Academic Olympics

The Academic Olympics competition was held in Frenchburg Kentucky and was an exciting and fun-filled event for our students. The competition featured questions from GED competency materials and covered language arts, science, mathematics, spelling, and current events.  Each team consisted of five competitors and an alternate.  A total of 36 teams competed in district competitions at 6 different Job Corps centers in 5 different states. Most importantly, the Academic Olympics is an opportunity for our students to learn how to work as part of a team while they are challenged academically. The Montgomery Job Corps CenterAcademic Olympic team included Paula Doe, Marcellus Gilchrist, Blake Ham, Sarah Hudson, Quentin Nabors, and Deontoya Scott, . All of these students represented the center in a professional manner and stated that this was one of the most rewarding experiences of their Job Corps Career.

The Montgomery Job Corps student Blake Hamm placed first place in Math and the team placed Fourth Overall.
