Montgomery Job Corps Teams up with Local Scouting Troop

On June 13th through the 16th from 9am to 3pm , twelve  students from Montgomery Job Corps and the Boy Scouts from Troop 307 from Aldersgate United Methodist Church teamed up with Christopher Allen to work on his Eagle Scout Project. Christopher’s project is named “Giving Back to My School”. Christopher attends Floyd Middle Magnet and will be going in the 8th grade. His project was painting 300 hall lockers that were in desperate need. This activity was coordinated through Beverly D. Ross District 7 Board of Education Representative back in February 2011 . When Christopher Allen first considered this project he was not sure at the time wet her or not the school would remain open. However, in May Beverly D. Ross, Vince Johnson the principle at Floyd and Christopher talked more about his project and the idea of painting 300 lockers was agreed on. What made this so special is that Montgomery Job Corps is sponsoring Christopher’s project by buying the material plus the students that will be giving back to the community and Christopher will be turning 13 in July and only 5% boys that start Boy Scouts make it to Eagle Scout. This project proved to be a very rewarding one for all parties involved.
