On Thursday, March 10, 2011 Governor Jack Markell came to the Wilmington Job Corps Center to host “Breakfast With the Governor”. This is a new initiative and the center was contacted a few days ago to kick the initiative off.
The show was taped live for television station WITN Channel 22 here at the center. The taping took place in the center’s Windows Cafe cafeteria with the Governor, Center Director, Eva Howell, one employed graduate student and one Culinary arts enrollee.
Breakfast was prepared by the Culinary Training department and was enjoyed during the taping session.
The Governor asked the students about their training experiences at the center and what their accomplishments were. He also asked the Center Director about the areas of vocational training at the center and what she was proud of as Center Director. The two students had the opportunity to ask the Governor questions such as well. They asked about his hobbies and other interests.
The students who were spectators, were very attentive and supportive of the event. Center Director, Eva Howell suggested how the Governor could further support the center through possible WBL internships in his local office.
