U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro toured the New Haven Job Corps Center recently, spending much time speaking with staff and students one- on- one.
Following a trip to the dorms, and chatting with students in their GED writing class, Congresswoman DeLauro spent time in the C.N.A. class, observing students as they worked on their skills in various areas of their trade, commending them on their career choice in the healthcare industry.

The Facilities Maintenance trade took the opportunity to teach Congresswoman DeLauro the finer points of working with tile, demonstrating placement techniques, and cutting tile. Listening carefully to student Iam Paris, who guided Ms. DeLauro through the process, she exclaimed, “I did it!” as she proudly displayed the cleanly cut tile.

The tour concluded with meeting with students to hear their concerns on the enrollment freeze. “Job Corps gave me an idea of what I actually wanted to do in life,” said Tania Gee, 22 who has recently completed her EMT training.
