The New Haven Job Corps Centers Outreach and Admissions Counselors, Lawrence Jackson and Basil Mitchell attended a job fair hosted by Senator Blumenthal at the Courtyard Marriott in Waterbury, CT on April 11, 2012. 

Mr. Jackson praised Senator Blumenthal for his efforts is assisting in the job search efforts on behalf of the students of the New Haven Job Corps Center.  Close to 30 potential employers were present with information on their companies and which positions were available as well as how to apply. 

 U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) issued the following statement on April 6, 2012 after the Labor Department’s jobs report showed the economy added 120,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate dropped from 8.3 percent to 8.2 percent in March:

“The March employment report should be a call to action for the House of Representatives to approve the strongly bipartisan transportation bill that will create jobs nationwide. Putting Americans back to work must remain a top priority and the transportation bill is the most immediate impactful means to job creation.”
