On January 14th, 2012 Lyndon B. Johnson CCC students attended a special events service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. The program was titled “Table of Brotherhood“, which derives from the announcements for the Nationial Memorial dedication to Martin Luther King to urge people to come to the table of brotherhood. The emphasis of the program was to get individuls to pay homage, eat, and fellowship. Several LBJ students, one from the Culinary Arts vocation assisted with preparing assorted soups, baking and desserts. Other students greeted guests, folded brochures and posted famous quotes from Dr. King throughout the banquet hall. During the service students seemed to be amazed about the enlightening stories people told of MLK during his struggle for equality.
One of the students replied “I was amazed to see different people from diverse backrounds assemble for this special occasion“.
Another student replied “It was informative to witness races of young and elderly come together and celebrate Dr. Kings work”.
