On Friday, February 19, 2016 Glenmont Job Corps Center held its quarterly Graduation Ceremony. We were honored to have Congressman Chris Gibson join us as our guest speaker for this event. Guests were greeted by Center Director Ms. Deborah Snape, who then introduced Congressman Chris Gibson. Congressman Gibson spoke about how proud he is of the Glenmont  Job Corps program and of our students. He said to the graduates, “It would have been easy for you to walk out the door, but you didn’t and that has brought you to today.” He also spoke of how important it is for each and every one of us to put out our best each day and how if we follow our passion, we will find happiness. Finally, he said that though we are bombarded with negativity from TV news reports, that he sees the positive potential of the future.
WhenWhen the Congressman was finished, graduate Brandi-Denise Belle took the stage. She spoke of her appreciation for all who helped her through. She encouraged her classmates to realize that they have a long road ahead of them and although they may make some mistakes, it is important to carry on with a positive attitude. She encouraged graduates to use the skills they have learned at GJCC to deal with difficult situations. It was then that the graduates had the honor of walking the stage to receive their diploma and a rose from Center Director, Ms. Deborah Snape.

While the families celebrated together at a luncheon , Finance and Admin-istration Manager Mr. Chet Mauro, Social Development Director Mr. Tracy Battle, and Business Community Liaison Ms. Ann Marie Morin, took Congressman Gibson on a quick tour of the center’s new dormitories. The Congressmen was very impressed by the new construction. Congressman Gibson, who is a great supporter of Job Corps, said, “I believe every person should live up to their God-given potential.”

We are very proud of all our graduates have accomplished and we wish them much success in the future.
