The first David L. Carrasco Job Corps Center class of Certified Protection Officers graduated on June 2, 2011.  The graduation ceremony was held at the El Paso Community College.  Barry Bogle, Director of the Law Enforcement Training Academy stated that these 14 graduates “… worked long and hard and demonstrated exceptional ability and dedication in meeting the demands of an arduous training program”.  Students were also addressed and inspired by the owner of Mike Garcia Merchant Security, Inc. who not only wished them continued success and encouraged them to continue developing in this profession, but also gave them all an opportunity to submit their job application with his company.    Prior to the students’ graduation, Mr. Garcia and his staff met with these students to speak to them about career opportunities and responsibilities in the security field.  Seven of these graduates have been hired by U.S. Security Associates, Inc., a national security guard company.  Mike Garcia Merchant Security, Inc. and U.S. Security Associates, Inc. are examples of great community support the Center receives from local and national employers.
