On Thursday, November 11, 2010 Mrs. Bush, BCL, and Mrs. Wilton, Career Transition Coordinator, attended the BGE Utility Trainee Open House at the Arlington Training Center in Baltimore.
The afternoon consisted of an overview of the BGE utility trainee positions and company needs, some presentations from utility trainees, and a tour of the training grounds. The tour included an observation of students in training learning how to climb poles, an overview of the warehouse training facility, a gas pipe fusion demonstration and a hazardous awareness high voltage demonstration.
BGE is anticipating hiring 24 trainees for a projected start date of February 2011 as well as additional trainees for future 2011 classes which some of Woodstock’s EST/Electrical, Stationary Engineering and Welding may quality for.
Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Wilton will be following up with BGE regarding students applying to the trainee program and scheduling for Joseph Finzel, Jr., Utility Training-Electric Supervisor, to do a presentation to the trade students on the utility trainee program.
