The week of July 7 –11, 2010 several Woodstock Job Corps Center Security Trade students set aside their vacation time to lend their skills to a worthwhile cause. Tyler Sirbaugh, Daniel Oaks, Shawn Braxton, Devon Leith and Bryan Delancey provided security services at Commitment 4 Change Youth Football Camp. Woodlawn High School played host to this camp that was sponsored by Keion Carpenter, retired All Pro Safety for the Atlanta Falcons and Aaron Maybin, Penn State Alumni and 1st round Draft Pick of the Buffalo Bills. Other NFL retired and active players in attendance included Super Bowl Champion LB Tommy Polley of the St Louis Rams, Baltimore Ravens, WR Anquan Boldin, Tennessee Titans, CB Vincent Fuller and DE Jason Murphy Detroit Lions WR Brian Johnson and CB Eric King and Washington Redskins CB Deangelo Hall, all came to lend their time and talents to the growth and development of the youth. Also in attendance as guest speakers were Recording Artist Rick Ross, Television Sports Caster Keith Mills and Melvin (Little Melvin) Williams whose life was the focus of cable televisions American Gangster, he is currently an Author, Public Speaker and had a Feature Role on HBO’s The Wire. The students went above and beyond the call of duty by taking an active role in the various activities and stations that were there to train the students towards excellence in life and in football. Meeting some of their favorite players in the NFL was a highlight for our students. Woodstock Job Corps Center’s Security Trade would like to thank The Carpenter’s House Foundation, Team Mayhem and For My Kidz for providing this opportunity for our students to demonstrate and enhance their skills.
