Today at Woodland, students who were interested in running for elected officers in the Student Government Association (SGA) told the crowd why they should vote for them.
SGA is the formal process used to involve students in the operation of the Center. Student involvement in the Center operations created ownership and pride in the Center environment, community, and culture. The Center will support the SGA in its efforts to promote a positive Center culture and to represent the student population in all matters of concern to students.
“It is expected that every member of the SGA will maintain the highest standards of performance. This includes academic/technical training, CSSR performance, evaluation of student progress performance and room inspection performance. Any SGA officer who is deemed to be negligent in fulfilling their duties can be voted off the board with a majority vote, pending the approval of the PLC and Social Development Director,” stated Ms. McAllister, Peer Leadership Advisor.
The requirements are:
-Completion of the Advanced Leadership & Leadership and Government Courses.
-CSSR score for the past days, without any 1s or 2s in any area.
-Nominated.
The duties are:
-All members are directly responsible to the Peer Leadership Coordinator.
-Board will report through a Chain of Command Model.
-Board members will be accountable to any staff member temporarily assigned as the SGA advisor and will cooperate with staff directly.
The Purpose:
-Student leaders are one of the most effective means of establishing and upholding student’s culture.
– Having a strong and structured leadership program is essential in allowing our students to become positive role models in the present and future.
Woodland congratulates all the candidates and they can’t wait to see who the new SGA Board Members will be!
