On Wednesday February 16, 2011 Woodland Job Corps Career Transition students from the Hospitality visited the Hospitality Institute at PG Community College while they were having their annual Career Fair interviewing for employment opportunities.

As a longstanding community partner with Woodland, the Hospitality Institute provides many workforce development institutions and businesses with a collaborative training plan that addresses some of the most current economic concerns that we are facing across this nation.

The Hospitality Institute has also in many cases helped to improve employer relations across Maryland extending its efforts to do so with helping Woodland students enroll into its advanced training program. Current graduate student Vanessa Young graduated and was hired with Gaylord National resorts and Hotels at the national harbor in Largo, MD.

During the Career Fair at PG College, the Hilton Hotel was present and screened Woodland students right on the spot. As a result, current graduate Chyna White began her first assignment on March 7, 2011 with Ocean City Hilton.

Prior to the Career Fair, members of the Hospitality Advisory Board. Woodland BCL Manager is a member of that committee. During the meeting the Woodland Center was recognized for our supportive role and community connection. We look forward to many other exciting events to take place with the Hospitality Tourism Institute as Woodland Job Corps students will be able to reap advanced education and employment benefits.
