At Wolf Creek Job Corps, a program titled “The Greening of Wolf Creek Job Corps Center — Teaching Our Youth to Care for the Land,” inspired changes.
“Job Corps created a center garden, constructed a recycling center, reduced waste by making sound purchasing decisions, saved energy by instituting Energy Monitors and selecting more efficient devices and replaced all incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents,” said McCullough.
Switching to a milk machine saved the need for 196,000 milk cartons in one year. Students and staff also used reusable containers for water, eliminating the annual use of 10,000 water bottles.
“It’s huge what they did,” McCullough said of the Job Corps.
