The Whitney Young Job Corps CNA students participated in a 7 week nutrition course in partnership with Shelby County Kentucky Extension Cooperatives office – a division of the University of Kentucky. CNA students learn how to read nutrition information on food labels and how to cook healthier meals. Shelby County Kentucky Extension Cooperatives Instructor, Sara Wright, provided healthier recipes, the “My Plate” food guide, and discussed how proteins and other nutrients are processed through the body. During each session students prepared a healthy meal or snack. In conclusion of the nutrition course students received a large thermos bag with cooking utensils inside and a nutrition certificate of completion.

CNA instructor, Sara Ivers, and the CNA students really enjoyed the program and partnership with the Shelby County Kentucky Extension Cooperatives office.
