Whitney M. Young, Jr. Job Corps Prepares Student for a Successful Future!!!

Whitney M. Young, Jr. Job Corps Center is very proud of to see Breaunna Couts take the next step toward her goal of obtaining a Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia! Breaunna decided to attend the Whitney Young Job Corps Center after her academic advisor stated it would take 4 years for Breaunna to complete her associate degree in Nursing while working full time as a Title Clerk and going to college part-time. Feeling discouraged she began researching free healthcare training programs and stumbled upon Job Corps. She met with an Admissions Counselor who informed Breaunna about the LPN Advance Training opportunity. Since being at the Whitney Young Job Corps Center, Breaunna has completed her health training courses and obtained her certifications within the following areas: Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Nurse Assistant(CNA), CPR, Phlebotomy, EKG, and Patient Care Tech. Breaunna currently has the highest math score recorded at Whitney Young Job Corps from the Adult Basic Education test and was one out of six students selected to move into the new Honors Dorm. Breaunna’s career journey began on March 27, 2017 when she started at Whitney Young, Jr. Job Corps Center at 21 years of age. In less than one year at Whitney Young Job Corps Center, Breaunna has been accepted and departs January 29th, for LPN Advanced Training with the highest entrance exam score they have ever seen – a score of 297 out of 300. Breauanna’s goal after completing Advance Training is to complete an LPN and RN bridge program. After receiving her Bachelors in Science of Nursing degree, she plans to obtain her Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia. Breauanna has had an amazing career at Whitney, she was able to gain valuable Work Base Learning experience for six weeks and meet people who will become her champions for a brighter future.
