According to Stephens, Whitney M Young Job Corps Staff gave him more help than his traditional high school. When Stephens called his mom to tell her the great news she said, “What’s a scholarship?” Once he explained the award she was very happy for her son. His words of advice to other students are “No matter what the situation always give 100% plus trust and believe God then everything will work out. Because if you know better than you’ll do better.” Patrick Stephens would like to thank God, Whitney M Young Coach Greg Calvin, Instructor Sandra Marshall and the entire Whitney M Young Job Corps Basketball team. Go Chargers!”
Davis is a medical student from Cleveland TN. He was only three high school credits away from a high school diploma, yet he came to Whitney M Young Job Corps to complete his high school diploma and become a certified medical assistant. He appreciates the “second-chance” opportunity to redirect his life. His advice to other students in Job Corps is to; “Keep your head up, push through and stay spiritual”. He expressed gratitude to his Whitney Young Coach Greg Calvin and parents for their support and motivation.
St. Catharine’s College Men’s Basketball Coach Burton is excited about the contribution the players will make towards the team’s overall goal.
