Whitney M Young Job Corps Center participated in the National Groundhog Job Shadow Day on February 2nd with companies from Shelbyville and Louisville, Kentucky. This opportunity allowed students to confirm their interest in trade choice and get a “real life” day at work. It exposed students to career options in the fields of medical, construction and culinary arts. The students returned with wonderful stories of their incredible experience. Students used adjectives like: awesome, great and amazing to express their day. National Groundhog Job Shadow Day was additional proof Job Corps works in Kentucky!
Our partnership companies were the Muhammad Ali Center, Brown Forman, University of Louisville Hospital, Painted Stone Elementary School, Kentucky State University Dining Services, ARCpoint Labs of Louisville, Messer Construction Co., Metro Louisville Dept. of Public Health plus Crestview Care & Rehab Center. Students were contacted and offered jobs from the event.
