The WMYJCC holds a tree ceremony as exemplary to teaching its students the principles of green initiatives. Students and employees at the center planted a white dogwood in a future butterfyly garden. The tree is a KY favorite and butterfly friendly.

A pathway of stones was unveiled, too. Each trade curriculum had students paint a stone to represent that trade, and those stones are displayed in the butterfly garden, such as students in brick laying, who is building a wall for the showcase.
