New SGA elected at Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center

The new Whitney M. Young Student Government Association has been selected.

The votes were cast last week, and now, Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center’s students have their new leadership in hand.

Serving as president is incumbent Aliciakaye Bryant, returning for her first full term after filling in when previous SGA president Scarlett Emerson stepped down.

Serving at Bryant’s side as vice-president will be Laryn Burton.

Sean Statton will serve as treasurer.

Kristian Galloway won Sergeant-at-Arms.

Ke’Oyndra Shelton will serve as the Diversity Officer and secretary for the new SGA.

Sean Thomas will be the peer-to-peer mentor for the new administration.

And lastly, Christopher Shepherd will serve as the new SGA’s event planner.

In total, 51 students voted in the election. With a total of 69 students on-campus when the election was held, the total voter turnout was 74 percent.

Student Personnel officer Anthony Santamassino said that the new SGA class felt energized and ready to go.

“Our new SGA Officers are all very excited about assuming their new roles and making a difference here at WYJCC,” he said. “I share their excitement and look forward to their tenure. Each of the new SGA Officers are very capable students and leaders within the campus population.”
