On Friday July 30, 2021 Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps Center held a Field Day event for students and staff. Activities for the day were planned and coordinated by Student Government Association (SGA) members. Activities included cornhole, tie dye, bicycling, Career Standards People Search, a cookout , and kickball. Music was provided by Mr. Jackson, Residential Advisor, and staff cheered students on throughout the day. SGA members coordinated the activities, created signage for each station, communicated event information throughout the day, and worked with facilities and maintenance team members to clean up at the end of the day. Students learned that career success standards are valuable and important skills to practice even while participating in fun activities like field day. Staff of Whitney Young stressed to students that it’s important to keep moving, and to stay physically fit while on a job, in order to manage the stressors that come along during the work week. All had a great time at WYJCC Field Day 2021!
