During this pandemic Jesus Ontiveros-Velazquez is striving above and beyond. Jesus has had multiple challenges and barriers as it relates to his living arrangements and adapting to distance learning. Despite adversities, Jesus determination and perseverance has helped him achieve 21 hours of Essential Ed in Math, scoring an 85% average on all quizzes and exams for the month of October. Jesus has also showed significant improvement in Eminence High School diploma program. His math instructor, Mr. Brandon Kessler states, he is extremely proud of his outstanding performance and making the best outcomes despite his troubling situation.
Jesus goal is to achieve his high school diploma and complete his Certified Medical Assistant trade. He hopes to attend University of Kentucky, obtaining a Bachelors in Creative Writing. When asked what motivated him to strive, he states, “changing your environment into a positive environment will produce positive results.”
