Turner Job Corps Center’s (TJCC) Community Relations Council in collaboration with the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce hosted TJCC’s 2nd Annual Legislative Affairs Day, on August 18th 2010. Numerous elected officials and area leaders were invited to Turner Job Corps Center to take a closer look at the Turner Job Corps Center in Albany during the center’s Legislative Affairs Day.
Elected officials such as Congressman Sanford Bishop, State Rep. Carol Fullerton, State Rep. Winfred Dukes, Sen. Freddie Powell Sims, Albany Mayor Willie Adams, City Commissioner Jon Howard, and County Commissioner Muarlean Edwards, were in attendance and participated in the day’s activities, which included a student facilitated tour of the Turner Job Corps Center’s campus, its academic and training facilities, and some elected officials even experienced hands-on-training on Turner’s cutting edge technology heavy equipment simulators. In attendance were a total of 90 federal, state, and local legislators
GA Senator Freddie Powell Sims received the Turner Job Corp Center’s Legislator of the Year Award, for her significant involvement and championship of Turner Job Corps Center over the past year. Mr. Kenneth J. Cutts, from the Office of Congressman Bishop, received the Community Partner of the Year Award.
