On February 24th, the Y2Y group hosted a Speak on It. Trainees and staff were invited up to our beautiful new stage to share insights, poetry, and song on the topic of violence. Eight brave trainees and three inspired staff made the event meaningful for the entire audience. Mr. Griffin, 2 West Dorm Supervisor reminded trainees “You can’t change others but you can change yourself.” In this he encouraged each participant to keep the peace in their own lives, and hopefully by changing themselves they can later inspire others to change too. Matthew Chand spoke about why he was moved to join Y2Y, “If I can change the life of one person it’s worth it.” The student Y2Y members, Jamie Garcia, Anvin Paithurthel, Matthew Chand, Artyste Ueal, and Daniela Arroyo Ruiz thanked everyone for joining in on the event and encouraged others to become part of the group.
