This week the Community/Public Relations Committee took center stage. The Committee teamed up with the Treasure Island Job Corps Student Government Association to get fundraiser ideas and they even got Treasure Island staff members to assist. The fundraiser was called “Pie a Staff”. Students were able to purchase tickets from the committee for 50 cents which gave them a vote for which staff member they would like to see get a pie thrown in their face! The three staff members that got the most votes by students would be “pied”. Students who purchased a ticket were also entered into a raffle to be the one to pie the staff member! The three staff members with the most votes were CPP Instructor Mr. Curry, CTT Manager Pedro Marroquin and Security Instructor Adrian Moreno. These staff members volunteering to get pied shows the students they are here to help in any way possible. It really helped create an even greater bond with students. In the end, staff members showed students their willingness to get pied in front of the entire center to show their support, and everyone had a great time with plenty of laughs. The proceeds from the Committee’s first fundraiser will help them in their efforts to support our surrounding community. Together everyone achieves more!
