Electrical Class Designs Charging Units

The Electrical/Solar class was given an assignment to design a portable “solar” charging unit for a cell phones and MP3 players. The class was divided into three groups. They were given a metal Lunch box “Frozen Elsa and Anna”, and a  “solar charging kit” consisting of a (4) 1.25 watt panels, a 12-volt charge port, USB plug and misc. wiring etc. Their task was to incorporate the parts into a portable/reliable/and safe charging kit that could be taken to the beach, camping, etc. The groups worked hard and came out with three different types of portable kits. With the help of some of Adams’ staff members, a winner was picked. Students Steven Vogel and Cameron Russo designed a kit that when the top of the lunch box was opened, the four solar panels folded out together and set on top of the box while plugging in the cell phone into the charge port located built into the side of the box. The two other teams consisted of: Mile Kramlich, Edgar Arriaga, Kevin Hope, Athena Maack, Rashad Nahshal,  Auzsa Victoria and  Elijah Collins.
