CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY IN EVERY FIELD

Work based Learning students, Aquila Woods, Brent Arnold & Karina Rodriguez have been working diligently repairing and repainting  walls at Sweet Inspiration in San Francisco’s Castro District. The project started on Monday, May 23rd with all three students showing up early and ready to work! By Wednesday morning, Café Manager McKenna, emailed our WBL Supervisor asking “what’s the catch” because she could not believe how well trained and professional Aquila, Brent and Karina acted during work and even on their lunch. McKenna said the students were even polite to the customers. Something she said their paid contractors in the past could not or would not have done.
Michael Colter, owner of Sweet Inspiration in San Francisco’s Castro district, gave Treasure Island Job Corps Work Based Learning students the biggest compliment there is…he told his neighbors about them! Michael said he was so impressed with the student’s professionalism and overall work ethic that he could not help but brag to his neighbors. Michael said the students show up early, work hard while they are there and clean up after themselves before they would leave for the day.
While meeting with staff before work started, Michael had mentioned that if at all possible he would like to keep the café open during the painting phase of the project, but he would shut down if the need arose. Thankfully, Michael said, the students were so professional and well-mannered he just asked customers to “excuse the paint” and allowed the students to continue working. Michael said even his customers have commented on how well mannered the “young people painting” are and asked where he hired them.
Once remodeling is complete, Michael will hire two baking students and start an Office Administration WBL. Great Job!
