Tandy Sturgeon and his painting program received a plaque from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Commander, Captain Daniel J. Travers for their outstanding work on Sector Columbia River gymnasium.

The plaque reads “Tongue Point Job Corps in appreciation of your outstanding performance and support of U.S. Coast Guard Sector Columbia River. Thank you, September 2015.”

The project was a complete prep, prime and repaint of the interior walls of the Coast Guard gymnasium. The students used a 30 foot scissor lift, 8 to 16 foot roller poles and 24 foot extension ladders to accomplish this task. It took them approximately 2 weeks to get it done and just about everybody in the shop got a chance to help.

Tandy shared, “This was a great opportunity for our students to get off center and give back to the community. They represented Tongue Point and the painting program very well with their professionalism and the quality of workmanship.”
