Weber Basin Job Corps students and staff were called to action to assist Washington Heights local community church. Due to the extreme amount of snowpack the state of Utah received this past winter the entire state is experiencing severe flooding. Local community church partners needed assistance with filling sandbags to provide barriers against floodwaters for local homeowners. Weber Basin students and staff provided over 662-man hours and filled over 12,500 sandbags in two days. This service act provided local homeowners the needed barriers to hold off and reroute flood waters that saved multiple homes from flooding. Community Service opportunities like these give our students the amazing opportunity to give back to the local communities for the support they provide the program.
