TCU Student Accepted in Boeing Pre-Employment Training Applicant Class

TCU student Charles Jackles has been accepted into the Boeing Pre-Employment Training Applicant Class. Charles passed each stage of the three part screening program which included basic Workkeys testing, more advanced math testing, and an interview. He started the process of applying for the program a year ago just after he entered the TCU program. His first trade was Culinary Arts. “I have always wanted to work for Boeing and this is my chance.” Charles said as he read the email letting him know he was accepted into the program. The program starts April 1 with a Team Building event for all the participants and then hits the books and projects on April 4th for technical Classes. The two month program ends with a June 10, 2016 Graduation. The Workforce Solutions Group, along with Florissant Valley’s Center for Workforce Innovation, is collaborating on an innovative pre-employment training program for individuals interested in working for the Boeing Company in St. Louis. This 408-hour program utilizes Boeing technical trainers and community college instructors to prepare individuals for potential employment as Assembly Mechanics. Training topics include: aircraft sheet metal assembly, mechanical and electrical. Students will be required to demonstrate mastery of these skills on a variety of practical (hands-on) projects and must achieve a passing score of 80% on both the written and practical portions of the course. Successful graduates may interview for positions at the Boeing Company, as openings become available.
