St. Louis Job Corps Students hold main role in the St. Patrick Centers Living Skills Graduation Ceremony Oct 28th.

Erica Rogers (Office Assistant) was the Matron of Ceremonies at the October 28th graduation of the St. Patrick Center Living Skills program.   Erica had the privilege of introducing several other Job Corps students who participated in the ceremony.   Crystal Brown (Office Assistant) gave the invocation, Daniel Jackson (Welding) gave the welcome remarks and Donte Jones (Certified Nurse Assistant) sang for the graduates.    Jeffrey Taylor the Advanced Career Training Coordinator was introduced as the guest speaker representing the St. Louis Job Corps Center.  In addition Erica was honored to introduce Dan Buck, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Patrick Center and an 18 year veteran in the broadcast industry.  Mr. Buck was asked to be the main speaker at the graduation and this was his final farewell to the program after eight years serving his community.  Under his leadership the partnership between the St. Patrick Center and Job Corps developed.   Over the last five years this program has given our students a chance to take the initiative and take ownership in this strong partnership.   The October Graduating class consisted of 10 Job Corps students and 23 from the St. Louis community.   Chesney Stittum the Center’s coordinator for the St. Patrick Life Skills program explained that the partnership between the St. Patrick’s Center and the St. Louis Job Corps Center provides our students with a five week life skills that including information on topics covering PARENTING, BUDGETING, DECISION MAKING, RENTER’S RIGHTS, GOAL SETTING, and COMMUNICATIONS.  The classes are twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays for two hours a day.  Upon  graduation each students are assigned a caseworker, receive s a $500.00 voucher towards their first and last months rent ands assorted items needed to start off in their new apartment.
