The St. Louis Job Corps Center recently hosted a highly successful Employer Day, welcoming more than 25 local employers and community leaders to its campus. The event, held at the Center on Stratford Avenue, showcased the Center’s commitment to empowering young adults through hands-on workforce training and meaningful employer engagement.
The event began with a special video address from U.S. Representative Wesley Bell, who welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of investment in workforce development. Following his remarks, each employer took the opportunity to introduce themselves and their companies, fostering new connections with students, faculty, and fellow community partners.
Attendees had the opportunity to witness student-led demonstrations, explore the Center’s training programs, and interact directly with the emerging talent that will shape St. Louis’s workforce. The event highlighted the impressive achievements of Job Corps students, who shared their personal stories and career ambitions with employers eager to connect with the next generation of skilled workers.
Lorraine Lane, Center Director at St. Louis Job Corps Center, emphasized the impact of partnership in her remarks: “Collaboration is the cornerstone of our mission. When local employers and educators come together, we build a stronger, more inclusive workforce that benefits everyone in our community. Today’s event is proof of the power of working hand-in-hand to prepare our students for success.”
The event was also covered by KMOV TV Channel 4, and coverage can be viewed by clicking on this link.
Employer Day reaffirmed the Center’s role as a vital bridge between education, industry, and opportunity, further strengthening its partnerships with regional employers.
