While on a field trip to attend the May 2012 Senior Health Fair at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, CNA students Terriona Slayton, LaMartin Franklin, Darrow Sanders, Delora Milburn, and Jasmine Westbrook jumped into action to assist one of the elderly participants who had stepped off a curb and tripped while trying to load the shuttle bus to the parking lot. The elderly woman had scrapes and bruises as she fell against the shuttle bus steps and landed on the street. Our St. Louis Job Corps CNA students went to assist fearing she may have a neck, hip or leg injury. They watched over the woman keeping her from moving until medical assistance arrived. Many of the venders and other participants stated how outstanding and respectful all our students were at the event. It was wonderful to see young people go the extra mile to help out another in need, putting self aside and giving that helping hand. In total 27 students and 5 Job Corps Staff member participated in the Health Fair at the campus.
