The spring of 2022 will hopefully see the completion of a new sand volleyball court in the middle of the St. Louis Job Corps Center. Cement Masonry Instructor George Davis is heading up the project for his student, Trenton Showers and several students from other trades. They are incorporating a slope laser in the work to determine the grade of the project that will incorporate several green technologies, including pervious pavers that will control water run-off. A significant retaining wall will be constructed on the north side of the court, which necessitates the use of a plate compactor. Mr. Davis explained the importance of correctly completing the paver base to ensure the wall will remain solid. “It is lots of work, but I think the end product will be worth it,” says Trenton Showers.
