St. Louis Job Corps student Juan Brown attended the St. Louis Regional Chamber annual Arcus Awards dinner with OA-CTS Director Dwayne Barefield, Stephanie Henson form the corporate office, and Business Community Liaison Jeffrey Taylor. Juan was exposed to business networking, and encouraged to reach out to local business leaders and explain the Job Corps program. There were over 800 business leaders attended the awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch. Juan had a chance to meet Bing Chiu Dempewolf the CEO of TAI-CHI Consulting a human resource consulting business that helps young businesses reach their potential. Bing was impressed with Juan’s ability to articulate the Job Corps program and express his personal career goals. “I didn’t realize so much business happens when people just meet’ Juan committed as the program came to a conclusion, “It is more than just getting awards it is about networking.” Arcus is Latin for “arch” and the Arcus Awards “symbolize the Gateway Arch, the unifying symbol of our region,” according to chamber officials. The St. Louis Job Corps is a keystone in that arch connecting young trained entry level employment candidates to local business helping improving their bottom line.
