August in St. Louis is usually not a time when one hears, “What a gorgeous day!” However, the past few weeks have produced beautiful skies, below average temperatures and low humidity; a great time for students in our building and construction trades programs to be outside developing their crafts. Mr. George Davis’ Concrete Masonry students have been working on pouring and troweling stairs and platforms to ensure they accomplish the skills indicated on their Training Achievement Records (E-TARs). While Tristan Hopkins and Austin Peeples ensure the concrete is mixed correctly, Trenton Showers and Brady Bowen are concentrating on a good pour and a smooth finish! Both our region and our nation have become aware of the deficit of individuals entering the skilled trades, so it is imperative that we direct young men and women into career fields where they are desperately needed and where they can experience personal and financial success. And as far as St. Louis’ August weather, we appreciate its cooperation!!
