The St. Louis Job Corps Center is in renovation mode as we transition away from some of the pandemic restrictions and begin to welcome students back to campus. The Recreation Center has seen little activity in the past two years so it needs a bit of TLC, providing a teaching and learning opportunity for instructors and students in the Carpentry program. Student Alonte Folks (left) and Instructor Brian Gray work to remove some sections of the gym floor that sustained damaged from a roof leak. Due to the nature of gym floor construction Mr. Gray indicates that section removal and replacement requires skill and attention to detail, so it is a solid Work-Based Learning opportunity for his students. There won’t be any NBA playoff games taking place on this floor any time soon, but we will be ready if we happen to get the call!!
