Staff at Springdale Job Corps Center met with employer partners, congressional staff, and state economists to discuss the trends in the local economy and how the training provided by SJCC is meeting workforce needs.
“We invited an economist from WorkSource to discuss how things look for the economy in general and particular areas we train in,” explains Business & Community Liaison Anna Snyder. “It was a fascinating conversation about how Job Corps’ training fits in to the needs of the state economy and where we will see growth in the future.”
In addition to the state economist, representatives from a variety of training programs, a member of US Senator Merkley’s district staff, and staff from state agencies that certify Springdale students attended. “The conversation covered a variety of things, including what barriers our students face and how we can address them,” Anna continued. “Overall it was a great meeting and some wonderful connections came out of it.”
