Springdale JCC Accepts Two Students into Advanced Careet Training

Two students were recently admitted to the Advanced Career Training program at Springdale Job Corps Center. The students, Veronica Primero and Forrest Snider, will start spring term at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon on Monday, March 28th.

Veronica is a Protective Services student and has shown herself to be driven and capable. She achieved the rank of lieutenant in class, has won the highest award on center, the Dragon Award, and recently was awarded Platinum status in the center incentive system. All these accomplishments show how dedicated Veronica is to improving herself and furthering her education. She aspires to earning her Bachelor’s degree in social work and working to improve the foster care system. Her instructor, Mac McKnight, had this to say about Veronica: “Veronica stands out as a student leader in many ways…She is always disciplined, motivated, and ‘hungry’ to improve herself. More importantly, Veronica sets goals, achieves those goals, and then raises the bar and seeks out new, higher goals.”

Joining Veronica as a new ACT student is Forrest Snider. Forrest completed Pharmacy Technician training and was recognized as the trade Student of the Month. Forrest impressed his supervisor and the Pharmacy Technician Employment Specialist and was named the Work Based Learning Student of the Month. In addition, he too earned the Dragon Award and has served as a New Student Ambassador, greeting new students and teaching them about life on center. Forrest will continue working toward his goal of becoming a Pharmacist. Pharmacy Technician instructor Alison Mahar sees a bright future for Forrest. “Forrest displays all the qualities a college student should possess. He is responsible, reliable, honest, and dedicated. He has shown so much growth and perseverance that I am confident he will succeed in whatever opportunities are put before him.”

Congratulations to Forrest and Veronica! They join students Ashley Castillo, April Helm, Gustavo Torres, and Zach Coda in working toward a better future!
