Springdale Job Corps is at the end of its annual Team Challenge. This is a five week event where students and staff break up in to teams and compete with each other in activities. During the last five weeks, students learned how to make healthy pizza, participated in dodge ball and basketball games, did some yoga, and finally, ran a 5k relay. Awards were given to the team with the best time as well as fastest male and female student. The winners of the individual prizes were given trophies. Students also volunteered as guides on the track while staff kept time for each team. The 5k is a yearly event and encourages students to try something they might not regularly do. Many of the students who participated would not usually call themselves runners, but they took up the baton for their teams and completed one lap around the center, passing off the baton to the next runner on their team. The turn out was very good for the 5k with approximately 30 staff and students participating on five different teams. Springdale’s Community Living Manager, Rachel Lupole, was very pleased with the turn out. “This is the second year we’ve had such a great turn out. I hope this is an indication of students and staff’s desire to be active.” Team Challenge ends this week with an awards ceremony where the top team
