Springdale celebrated National Commencement Day on Friday, August 23rd, congratulating 17 graduates and welcoming Rep Earl Blumenauer (D-OR). Rep Blumenauer spoke to the students about their unique and important place in their communities, and about how each graduate had persevered to complete their training.
Graduates were joined at the Mount Hood Community College Visual Arts building by friends and family, instructors, and fellow students eager to congratulate the young men and women participating in the ceremony. Center Director Naomi Ulsted also spoke to the graduates, telling them how proud she was to see them there and to know they were all using their training to be successful, whether in school, or in work. Mayor Doug Daoust of Troutdale, where Springdale is located, also attended.
In order to be eligible to participate in the ceremony, graduates must have completed training and be employed.
