PIVOT Job Corps Center, located in Portland, Oregon, is excited to welcome their new Enrollment Specialist, Breanna Canda, to the team. Breanna is a Portland native, attending Grant High School and graduating in 2004. She attended Hampton University, a historically black college in Virginia. There she studied Advertising and Psychology and is currently working on her Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis on Project Management.
“I am passionate about working with low-income young adults,” she says. “I want to help them realize their potential and help break the cycle of under and unemployment. I love working at PIVOT for that reason. Its focus is on empowering young women to gain skills that will move them to self-sufficiency.”
Breanna approaches her position as an advocate for PIVOT. “I want to talk about it to everyone,” she says. “I want to get the word out about what PIVOT offers. I want everyone within earshot to know about this program.”
Breanna works directly with young women interested in applying to PIVOT. “I start at the open house we have every Wednesday, work with them on their application materials, and interview them before I take their application. My goal is to bring people in and determine if PIVOT is the right fit. We are committed to seeing our students succeed and applicants need to be committed to seeing themselves succeed, too.”
Site Director Tyna Moreschi looks forward to what Breanna will bring to the program. “She’s enthusiastic and innovative,” Tyna says. “I look forward to seeing how she expands the outreach opportunities for PIVOT.”
We welcome Breanna to the Job Corps team!
