South Bronx Job Corps Leaders Help Take Guns Off The Streets

The New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund is for selected youth within the Bronx community to provide a positive role for young adults to decrease gun violence in the community. The Bronx Borough President’s Office has created a Youth Council to address gun violence and build strong ties with youth within the community.  Two South Bronx Job Corps students, Fello Parrilla, and Willie Wilson were nominated to participate in this program. The Youth Council will also serve as a vehicle for young people to meet regularly with local elected officials to address “gap areas” where unmet community needs lead to increased use of guns. The Youth Council meets every Wednesday from 4 – 5:30 pm in the Office of the Bronx Borough President.
