3rd Fiscal Quarter S. Bronx Job Corps Academy Congressional Outreach

Throughout the course of 2024 3rd fiscal quarter, Business and Community Liaison, Beth Gardner was invited to attend congressional meetings in the Bronx, Northern Manhattan and Brooklyn boroughs.

On Thursday, January 25th, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hosted a student services fair in the Renaissance High School for Musical Theater & The Arts at 3000 E Tremont Ave, Bronx, NY 10461. She and other community partners helped students connect with the district resources and opportunities including workforce development programs.

 

 

 

 


Bronx News 12 attended the student services event capturing the opportunity students had to learn more about the services, college, and employment opportunities that are available to them within the borough.

 

 

 

 

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson (right) hosted a Community Services Event on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the government office on 851 Grand Concourse to discuss disability services, resources, and upcoming career fairs available to those living with an impairment in the community. She reminded all attendees living with a disablement that they are resilient, tough, fighters, and never alone. A wide range of support for them and their families to live a productive and fulfilling life is available within the Bronx. The development work in healthcare, schools, and housing needed by those living with physical or mental handicaps continues to drive to improve their society.

 

 

 

Business & Community Liaison, Beth Gardner (above) from the South Bronx Job Corps Academy shown standing with President Gibson, attended the event to learn about employment opportunities that are available for their trade students who have common disabilities. It’s paramount that our students regardless of their disabilities receive the same internship and entry-level positions within the seven trades offered at the free academy that young adults without disabilities have.

Instrumental in creating the Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson’s Community Services Event were the Director of Community Affairs, David Coulibaly, and Community Affairs Associate, Millicent Matos.

 

 

 

 

The Office of Congressman Adriano Espaillat representative scheduled to meet with Business & Community Liaison (BCL), Beth Gardner from the South Bronx Job Corps Academy to learn about the long-term benefits underserved young adults in NYC can gain by attending the free vocational program at the South Bronx Job Corps Academy. Beth is looking forward to attending your upcoming events.

 

 

 

On March 13, 2024, Business & Community Liaison (BCL), Beth Gardner from the South Bronx Job Corps Academy was invited to meet with Assemblywoman Monique Chandler-Waterman in person at a congressional job fair representing Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke. The Assemblymember will be scheduling with Ms. Gardner to visit the South Bronx Job Corps Academy to meet with the Center Director, Kevin Hayes, and the Director of Learning, Tom Dreitlein.
