Recently, Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center held a training for new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community. SNJCC’s CERT members have assisted with many emergency drills, including drills for broken airplane wings, school bus accidents and biological threats. The center has trained 37 CERT volunteers in 2012 and looks forward to continuing to train more students for emergencies.
