Sierra Nevada Students Prepare for State Skills Competition

Sixteen students at Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center (SNJCC) are preparing to compete with youth around Nevada in a statewide competition from March 15-17.  The Nevada Skills USA competition will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada and SNJCC will have students from eight of the center’s 16 technical training programs competing.  The participating trades include  Culinary Arts, Carpentry, Electrical, Automotive, Medical Office Support, Certified Nursing Assistant, Hotel & Lodging, and Office Administration.

Last year, nine students received medals, earning four gold medals, four silver medals, and three bronze medals.  Gold medal winners will travel to the national competition in Kansas City, Missouri in June.  This year, students are working harder than ever to demonstrate the level of skill they attain at SNJCC.  We know they will make us proud and wish them the best of luck!
