Sierra Nevada Job Corps Students Hired for Their Great Skill Sets

Anyone who has ever visited Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center and met our students has likely been impressed by the professionalim and skill they have demonstrated. Similarly, those who have hired our graduates or worked with our Work- Based Learning Internship program have given rave reviews about their skills and their ability to learn quickly.

Recently, six Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) graduates were hired by Rosewood Rehabilitation Center. These graduates each completed the rigorous CNA training and passed their State Board exams with flying colors. These certifications combined with the previous experience students gain through their Work- Based Learning internships at organizations and businesses in the community ensure satisfied employers in that believe in the talent of our students.

Martin-Ross Investigations & Security employs SNJCC Homeland Security students for the many large annual events for which Reno is famous. These events include the Reno Air Races and Street Vibrations, and the Reno Rodeo. Students perform crowd control, answer questions, safeguard equipment and displays, and make sure event attendees stay safe while having fun.

For Martin-Ross Security, SNJCC students and graduates offer a basic knowledge of the industry and ability to grow. “During our involvement with Sierra Nevada Job Corps, we have been extremely pleased with the work performed by its students,” Martin-Ross Executive Director Jason Patterson said, “They are professional, hard-working, intelligent and willing to learn. The students come to us with the proper industry competencies, making it easier to put them to work immediately.”

Sierra Nevada is extremely proud of its graduates for the great employees they become.  The center will continue to strive to provide the state of Nevada with the skilled employees needed to support Nevada’s businesses and organizations.
