Sierra Nevada Provides Clothing for Community’s Homeless

Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center (SNJCC) held the second of its bi-annual clothing drives to benefit the area’s homeless.  Students and staff dropped off the clothing donations to Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet, a nonprofit organization that provides clothing to the homeless at no cost.  The center representatives dropped off 28 boxes of clothes for the organization.

The clothing donations are important, but even more critical during the winter months, when many homeless people are forced to spend much of their time outside in the cold.  Weather in Reno, Nevada, where the center is located, can be unpredictable and winters tough due to the area’s location within a valley in close proximity to Lake Tahoe.

With this donation, SNJCC has provided 82 boxes of clothing for the homeless in northern Nevada.  Additionally, the center has now donated a total of 165 boxes during 2010 and 2011.  The students and staff have made it their mission to help those less fortunate all year round, and look forward to continuing and growing their support for the many worthy organizations in the community.
