Sierra Nevada Job Corps Students Aid Sparks Chamber of Commerce

In August, Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center (SNJCC) Painting and Building & Apartment Maintenance (BAM) students had the privilege of working with the Northern Nevada Chamber of Commerce (formerly the Sparks Chamber of Commerce) to help prepare their new offices at The Legends at Sparks Marina Mall.  The Painting students painted the interior office walls while BAM students laid down the carpet in the  2,700 square foot space.

The project took approximately three weeks to complete.  The time and skilled work donated by the students, along with the help of oehter local organizations, allowed the Chamber to complete their new office space at no cost.  In addition to gaining valuable hands-on training, students met and interacted with Sparks Chamber Executive Director Len Stevens and Legends General Manager Dennis McGovern.  Stevens, a strong supporter of SNJCC, expressed his appreciation for the professionalism and dedication with which the students worked to help his organization.   The students then participated in the grand opening event and luncheon and networked with the 200 dignitaries and community and chamber members.
