This past November, Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center (SNJCC) students donated 35 boxes of clothing and blankets to the Good Shepherd’s Clothing Closet. The students collected items for one month before donating them to the nonprofit organization that provides free clothing to the homeless. The donated items included personal donations from both students and staff members. The center has adopted the Good Shepherd’s Clothing Closet and this event was the second clothing drive the students has held. The first clothing drive yielded 47 boxes and allowed the students to help many of those less fortunate in the community.
The center has a great history of adopting area nonprofits, including the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Sierra Safari Zoo, and has continued to be a valuable community resource. The center also recently donated more than two barrels of clothing to the Easter Seals.
The center and its students look forward to continuing their long legacy as a benefit to the community. Organizations that would like to learn more about how Sierra Nevada Job Corps can help, please contact Helyse Sina, (775) 789-0803 or sina.helyse@jobcorps.org.
